The Latest Redevelopment News from Walsall Manor Hospital
The first stage of the unveiling of Walsall Manor Hospital’s new facilities is taking place over the coming weeks. The first building to open to patients and visitors is the Family Health and Diagnostics Centre on Monday 24 May 2010. From this date, patients attending any of the women’s and children’s services in the Family Health and Diagnostics Centre will need to access this building via the West Wing entrance.
Patients and visitors who need to attend Maternity, unless in an emergency, will also have to use West Wing entrance as the current reception area is no longer an entry to this building.
West Wing will be the main entrance for Maternity, the Family Health and Diagnostics Centre and most inpatient wards until September 2010, when the new main entrance on Pleck Road opens.
Car parking remains the same and telephone extension numbers and email addresses won’t be changing at all. Patients who are scheduled to attend the Manor will be receiving a letter two weeks before their appointments stating where they need to go, complete with a new site map.
For patients who are already under the Manor’s care, they will be given this information when booking their follow-up appointment. For outpatient appointments, other than women’s and children’s services, patients should continue to attend the Sister Dora Outpatients department up until September 2010 which is when they are scheduled to move into the new Outpatient and Day Case Centre.
