Wildlife on your doorstep

Wherever you are in Walsall you’re never far from a countryside site or green open space.  We have a staggering 30 countryside sites in Walsall, including 17 Local Nature Reserves, and a brand new Country Park, which includes the former Grange Golf Course at the Arboretum Extension.

Walsall Countryside Services are always busy managing and monitoring our countryside, recording wildlife, and running events including walks and talks on subjects from history to urban wildlife and even astronomy!  We also support an active network of 'Friends of...' groups, and run an exciting environmental kids' club:  The Really Green Discovery Team.

We also have two active groups of volunteers:  The Walsall Conservation Volunteers, who do practical conservation work & habitat management, and the Black Country Biodiversity Group, who undertake various wildlife surveys around Walsall.

Our rangers run a series of woodcraft courses, in which you can learn traditional green wood crafts, basket making and more!

Take a look through the links to your right, where you'll find all you need to know about our Countryside sites and Local Nature Reserves, including how to get there, what to do, and what events we've got planned.  If you would like to get involved with any of our volunteer groups, the Really Green Discovery Team, or would like to come along to an event, we'd love to hear from you.
