Introduction
Swimming is a great life skill and we want to encourage everyone to learn to swim and to swim regularly for fun with the family or for fitness.
Our programmes cover all swimming needs from babies through to preparation for club competition swimming.
All our instructors have appropriate qualifications and checks made to ensure your complete confidence in our classes.
We are working in partnership with the Swimming Teachers Association to ensure our lesson programme follows a nationally recognised quality standard. Our instructors have access to a continuing professional development programme to ensure their skills are regularly updated.

Which class is for my child?

| Pre-school under 1's | Sessions for parents with very young babies, enjoyable and fun. |
| Pre-school under 3's | Babies and toddler sessions to improve confidence and learn basic swim skills. Instructor works with parent and baby. |
| Pre-school under 5's | To teach basic swimming skills and poolside safety, through a series of awards. |
| Stage 1 | Principally for non-swimmers to teach children to swim with basic water safety education. |
| Stage 2 | Children are still in shallow water, now able to swim they will be learning stroke technique and developing their breathing. |
How do I enrol my child?
- Week four from end of course existing members receive a re-enrolment form.
- Newcomers can enrol at week two from the end of the current course. A £10 non-refundable deposit or full payment will secure a place. Contact the centre for dates.
- If no place for newcomers is available you can ask to go on a reserve list.
- You will be informed before the end of the first week of a new course if you have been allocated a place from the reserve list.
- No names from the reserve list are carried forward. You must re-apply if you have not been successful.
Payments
- Course fees are not a set price; they depend on the length of each course.
- Course fees are non-refundable.
- Payments must be made in full by the end of the first week of the new course.
- To enrol, a non-refundable £10 deposit will secure your child's place. This must be paid by the end of week three from the end of the current course.
- Payments can be made by cash, cheque, debit/credit cards.
Course benefits
- Parents receive in addition to certificates and badges, an end of course progress report which gives overall feedback for the full course.
- Each child enroled will be given an Atlantis Swim School membership card with a free swim pass for the course plus the holiday period following the course.
- The Atlantis Swim School is an incentive based awards programme, at each stage awards are available for pupils to recognise progress.
What next?
- From the table above check which class you require.
- Visit the centre two weeks before the end of the current course (spaces are limited).
- If there are no spaces available go on a reserve list or try another centre.
Swimming policy
In accordance with the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management, the following policy is in operation in all Sport and Leisure facilities:
- Children under the age of four should be accompanied by a responsible person, 16 years or over, on a maximum two to one basis.
- The above ratios may be relaxed during designated sessions at specific centres following the centres' risk assessment.
