Housing Standards and Improvement
This site has detailed information on a range of topics such as home energy, houses in multiple occupation and repairs to private rented properties. It also has links to a number of borough wide strategies or reports that also cover topics and issues about housing standards and improvement. These can be viewed using the following links
Private Sector Renewal Strategy
The Regeneration portfolio has both statutory duties and discretionary powers to offer help and financial assistance to improve private sector housing conditions in the borough. The policy has been set with regard to the Housing Strategy, wider corporate and regional priorities and available funding. This strategy is reviewed annually by the council.
Private Sector Housing Stock Condition Survey
The house condition survey provides us with a detailed picture of current housing conditions across the whole of the Borough. The survey includes information about the housing stock such as type; size and age of properties whether they are rented or owned; the type of repairs required and information on the energy rating of properties.
Affordable Warmth Strategy
Affordable warmth means a household is able to afford to heat their home to the level required for their comfort and health. The lack of affordable warmth is known as ‘fuel poverty’. A household is in fuel poverty if they cannot keep warm and healthy in their own home at a price they can afford. The main cause of fuel poverty in the UK is a combination of poor energy efficiency in homes and low income. This strategy focuses on developing, delivering and monitoring initiatives that will help to address fuel poverty and improve energy efficiency in Walsall.
