Biography of current Mayor

Born at Walsall Manor Hospital in 1976, I am the second eldest of five children. I attended Pelsall Village School and the former Pelsall Comprehensive.
I have been active in the local community since an early age, at 14 I sat on the Pelsall Carnival Committee and have been involved in a number of community organisations ever since.
In 1992 I took part in the Walsall Rotary Youth Speaks competition and was highly commended. In 2003 I received a recognition award from West Midlands Police for work in tackling ASB.
After my A Levels I worked first as a trainee retail Manager before becoming a butcher for Walter Smith.
In 1999 I changed my career completely and began work at Walsall Manor Hospital first as a ward clerk, and since 2001 as a Patient Support Officer working in the PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service). I was awarded best front line member of staff 2008-2009.
I was first elected to Council in 1998, serving Pelsall ward as the council’s youngest member, I served on Housing and Licensing Committees and became Chairman of the former Area District Planning Committee.
In 2002 I was appointed to Walsall’s new Cabinet as portfolio holder for Leisure a position I held until 2006 when I took on the portfolio for Communities and Partnerships.
I enjoy the theatre, walking, and socialising – I have two dogs Lui a Schnauzer and Oscar a King Charles Cavalier.
I am President of the Pelsall Physically Handicapped Society the Sister Dora Friends of Walsall Hospice and Pelsall Luncheon Club.
I am also Chairman of the Pelsall Pride Partnership, and a Governor at Pelsall Village and Ryders Hayes Primary Schools.
