Adventure Activities for People with a Disability
Assisted climbing - for people with mobility problems
The system utilises pulleys and enables climbers with limited lower body function to move up a wall under their own power.
Assisted hoist
The paragliding harness gives wheelchairs users full body support. The harness has an integral seat and back support. The system uses pulleys and different jamming devices to allow the climber to access to the high rope course elements including high all aboard, fan descenders and high aerial trekking course. Various other devices are incorporated in the system enabling people with the most complex medical needs access to climbing.

Orienteering
Our cartoon character orienteering is a great, fun, first step into the use of maps in orienteering. They can follow photos as well as the map to find a selection of cartoon portraits located around our centre grounds.

Archery
The use of stands and release aids gives people with complex medical needs access to archery.

Access sailing
Access sailing dinghies are designed specifically to accommodate people with mild disabilities to those with complex needs.

We have hoist facilities for wheelchair users.

We also have larger sailing boats which are suitable for older slightly more able people.

Rafted canoes
By tying two of our traditional open canoes together with a pole and a little rope we turn what can be a tippy single open canoes into a very stable and safe platform for children and adults of any ability or disability and its still fairly easy raft to manoeuvre.

Kayaking
Our sit on kayak’s are a great next step for those who would like to progress into single seated kayak but still feel that capsizeing with their legs inside a closed cockpit kayak a little bit scary this way you just fall out or should I say off and into the water.
