Transforming your space
Walsall’s Transforming Your Space Programme
The Transforming Your Space (TYS) programme was a Big Lottery Fund initiative which took place between 2003 and 2007. Walsall’s programme was a borough-wide initiative which aimed to improve peoples’ quality of life through improvements to facilities for children, young people, families, the wider communities and the environment. The total investment through the programme was approximately £3.3 million; £1.7 million of this was Big Lottery funding. Other contributors included Walsall Council, Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and British Waterways.
The programme consisted of 15 large and exciting projects which were spread across the borough including the Barn Project (Bentley Youth and Community Centre), Aldridge South District Project, George Rose Park and Canal Towpath Improvements (Teece’s Bridge to Goscote Hall Bridge). The implementation of the projects resulted in many achievements including improvements to existing play and youth facilities which had seen little investment in recent years and the creation of new facilities to meet local peoples’ needs and wishes.
